The morphology of movement is key to Fiona's practice and her ongoing investigations into lived experiences of displacement and belonging. She is an Australian artist based in Brisbane.

Sensory, playful, tactile and poetic are ways to describe her materially-driven methods. Fiona creates sculptures and photographs by assembling objects and materials that resonate with nostalgia, home and a sense of belonging. She chooses objects to transform that are easily carried and usually found in domestic spaces. These objects often imbue a strange, sweet melancholy that holds her attention and provides inspiration for narratives of portability.

Born in Zimbabwe, Fiona has worked in the arts industry in South Africa, London and Australia, and has a Doctorate in Visual Arts through Griffith University, Brisbane. In addition to her visual art practice, she is passionate about children’s literature. To view her book illustrations visit
